Principal's Corner
Alma Mundy
The Houston County Board of Education has named Dr. Alma Mundy as the next principal of Northside Middle School. Dr. Mundy currently serves as the Assistant Principal of Instruction for Northside Middle and will begin this new role in June.
“I am overjoyed to serve as the next Principal of Northside Middle School and sincerely appreciate Dr. Scott and the Executive Cabinet for believing in me,” said Dr. Mundy. “I am deeply grateful to the staff and students who I have worked with for the past eight years. I have learned a great deal working with a strong administrative staff. Dr. Dykes, my mentor, has been very instrumental in training me, and Mr. Basby is such an encouraging team player, full of energy and presence. I am ready for us all to continue to soar to new heights at the home of the Jets!”
Dr. Mundy taught in the classroom for 10 years prior to becoming an Instructional Coach. She also held this position for 10 years, five of which were at Northside Middle, before serving as the Assistant Principal of Instruction.
Dr. Mundy received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Middle Grades Education at Clark Atlanta University. While she was teaching, she earned her Master’s in Middle Grades Science and Math Education from Wesleyan College. Dr. Mundy earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Mercer University in Curriculum and Instruction. She also completed an Educational Leadership Program through Georgia College and State University.
She and her husband have three children, all of whom are products of the Houston County School District.
