Reading truly is the key to success. As a media specialist, my goal is to help students learn that reading can be more than just a school assignment. It can be a key to learning and adventure! If I can connect students with books that they love, then I can help them to become confident readers who then grow up to become confident leaders!

I consider myself a lifelong learner, and that started with the education I received from the Houston County School System. I actually attended Northside Middle School when it was known as Northside Junior High School! I graduated from Northside High School and went on to receive degrees from Georgia College and State University and Georgia Southern University. I taught Language Arts and Social Studies in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades here in Houston County before finding my dream job as the Media Specialist here at NMS in August of 2014. I consider it a privilege to serve the students of NMS, and I look forward to helping them become lifelong learners as well!

My husband Gary (who graduated from WRHS) and I have two children who are both graduates of Perry High School. Hillary is now married to her husband Josh, and they are the proud parents of our two grandchildren, Perry and Lathan. Hillary teaches 3rd grade in White County, Georgia, and Josh serves as a School Resource Officer in the county. Hannah, our youngest, is a senior attending University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
